Dr. Phil Interviews George and Cindy (part one)

Dr. Phil Interviews the Anthonys (part one)

After watching part one of Dr. Phil’s interview with George and Cindy Anthony there was only one great revelation that was not heard at the trial. This was Cindy’s theory that her daughter Casey suffers from some kind of organic brain disease. During the interview Cindy talked about post partum schizophrenia, a brain tumor and grand mal seizures. Cindy shared that Casey did have medical follow-up after her grand mal seizures and that the doctors did not find any reason for these occurrences. It appears that Cindy is trying to take some kind of comfort in thinking that all or part of her daughter’s behavior was not under Casey’s control. Cindy and George also mentioned that they noted a drastic change for the worse in Casey shortly after Caylee was born.
This was the first time that I was aware that George and Cindy were separated around the time of Casey’s pregnancy. It was also disclosed that George had a serious issue with gambling and was not truthful with Cindy about it. It appears that a lot of Casey’s lying may have been learned from her father. So what is one to make out of today’s disclosures? It raises more questions than answers. What was the truth about Casey’s seizures and did they play any roll in what happened in the tragic death of Caylee? Is George Anthony still holding back some of the truth? How soon was it that George was convinced that Caylee was indeed dead? Did he know for sure at this time? And one of the major questions was still not answered. Why did it take thirty-one days for George and Cindy to contact the police? Hopefully, there will be some more answers in tomorrow’s episode.

Dr. Phil and the Anthonys

Dr. Phil and the Anthonys

Dr. Phil McGraw has the big interview with George and Cindy Anthony Scheduled to be aired on September 12. It is almost guaranteed that this episode of The Dr. Phil story will attain record ratings. There is a teaser out there that George and Cindy Anthony will reveal some things not heard at the trial. There is also a suggestion that what they have to say may help solve the mystery of what exactly happened to Caylee Anthony. This is some of the hype already surrounding this interview.
The subject of monetary compensation for the Anthonys has also been discussed. The impression given so far is that George and Cindy will turn any money made from their appearance on Dr. Phil over to a charity having Caylee’s name. I don’t see any reason why George and Cindy shouldn’t keep some of the proceeds for themselves. I don’t know what their financial situation is but I can’t imagine it being very good considering all that has happened to them in the last three years. What the heck? Prosecutor Jeff Ashton already has his book ready to go.

Judge Perry Has Made His Decision

Casey Back in Florida?

Judge Perry has ordered that Casey Anthony is to return to Florida and serve her probation. He was in a tough position on this one. The easiest decision would be to not have Casey serve her probation. I am sure that bringing Casey back to Orlando Florida will place her in danger. It will also further disrupt the city of Orlando. However, Judge Perry did not want to give the impression that Casey was getting a free pass. Too many people already believe that Casey got away with murder. He was probably trying to protect the integrity of the judicial system.
The other decision the Judge Perry will have to make is whether or not to release the names of the jurors in the Casey Anthony trial. This could turn out to be an even more critical decision. Some jurors have already reported being threatened. Is it really fair to subject these jurors to possible harm? I think not. Who is going to want to serve on a jury like this again? The sad truth is that this jury may have the rest of their lives affected negatively. All this was because they wanted to do their civic duty.
It was reported today that one of the jurors in the Casey Anthony trial has now reconsidered his decision. He feels that the jury should have come up with a verdict of manslaughter. This juror also reported that the jury did not like Casey Anthony but they thought they had to follow the law as they perceived it. One has to remember that the jury did not have all the information available to them that the general public had. The jury was sequestered for the duration of the trial. My opinion is that Judge Perry should not reveal the identities of the individual jurors in this case.

Guilt and Casey Anthony

Guilt and Casey Anthony

There are many things that I do not understand about Casey Anthony. One would think that the guilt should be eating away at her. Even if Caylee's death was an accident, you would think that Casey would still feel a lot of guilt and would be going over and over in her head what she could have done to prevent the accident. One might argue that over three years has passed and she may have gotten over it. Still I find this unlikely. If Casey did really murder Caylee, the guilt would be increased numerous times. How can Casey sleep at night? Even if Casey does have a fitful sleep, one would expect terrifying nightmares. Yet there have not been any reports of Casey experiencing trauma.

Casey Anthony and Warren Jeffs

Casey Anthony and Warren Jeffs

Don’t get me wrong. If Casey Anthony did indeed murder her daughter, her crime is horrific. What befuddles me is the almost universal condemnation of Casey Anthony (who was found not guilty) and the relative quiet concerning the crimes of Warren Jeffs (who was found guilty by a court of law). What gives? Warren Jeffs abused who knows how many children for how many years and yet I am not sensing the same degree of outrage as is presently directed toward Casey Anthony.
I have observed another phenomenon in the case of Casey Anthony. The majority of people who believe that Casey may not be guilty (and it is a slim percentage) are male. The majority of people who think that Casey Anthony is without a doubt guilty of murder appear to be female. Is there something subconscious going on? I’m not Sigmund Freud but does this having anything to do with the fact that Casey Anthony is a physically attractive woman? What do you think?

Judge Perry Made the Wrong Decision

Judge Perry Made the Wrong Decision

I believe that Judge Perry made the wrong decision in ordering Casey Anthony back to Orlando for the following reasons:
1) I believe the decision was politically motivated.
2) The city of Orlando needs time to heal from this tragedy and this is just reopening the wound.
3) There is a very real possibility of violence when Casey returns.
4) This could cost the city of Orlando a ton of money especially if rioting occurs and extra security is necessary.
5) Casey will likely only be able to work at a job if her defense lawyers give her a job. The question is will Casey be able to get to and from work safely?
6) George and Cindy Anthony’s home is certain to be surrounded by unwanted visitors waiting to see if Casey will show up at their home. This family has suffered enough.
7) If someone manages to harm Casey there will be another costly trial to deal with.
8) How will the authorities possibly be able to keep Casey’s address secret if she stays in Orlando?

Casey Anthony Must Serve Her Probation

Casey Has To Serve Her Probation

I honestly don’t see what good it’s going to do to force Casey Anthony to complete her probation. I fear that politics and the pressure of public opinion have influenced Judge Perry’s decision. Judge Perry could have saved face by just stating that an administrative screw up was made and that there was nothing that he could do to change that.
The majority of people want to see Casey Anthony punished in some way. Casey and her defense team beat the prosecution in the court trial and people are very upset about it. Their fall back poition is to see if they can get retribution some other way. Some people are hoping that Casey will quickly violate her probation order and be put back in jail.
Ironically, this might be a good thing for Casey considering how many people would like to see her harmed. Right now jail might be the safest place for Casey Anthony.

What Is Normal?

What Is Normal?

The term normal gets thrown around a lot in general conversation and very often when talking about mental health. The question is, “What is normal?” I suppose from a clinical psychiatric or psychological perspective it would be not having a diagnosable psychiatric illness. Of course, if one is to go by this definition Casey Anthony is normal and your brother who is addicted to coffee is not.  In my experience, if people are honest, most of us are dysfunctional to some degree or another. If someone claims to be totally without dysfunction they are probably either lying or are in denial. I know that this post will probably make some people angry but this is what I believe.

Did Casey Have Help?

Did Casey Have Help?

One of my blog commenters has started me thinking about something. First of all, I must say that I don’t know how Caylee Anthony died. A jury has decided that they didn’t have sufficient reason to convict Casey Anthony. I don’t know if the truth will ever be known concerning the death of Caylee Anthony. I have started to wonder why Casey Anthony’s friends have been relatively quiet in the aftermath of the Casey Anthony case. I am starting to wonder if one or more of Casey’s associates were somehow involved in Caylee’s death. One of her friends once stated that if Casey had any involvement she likely would not likely be capable of acting alone. Her friends really didn’t have all that much negative to say about Casey other than she liked to party.

Remember Kato Kaelin

Remember Kato Kaelin

The Casey Anthony story plays out like a play. In any play there are secondary or bit players. In this case I am thinking about people like Roy Kronk and Casey’s ex fiancé, Jesse Grund. I have noticed that Jesse’s father likes to take part in television interviews. I also thought of Casey’s boyfriend, Tony and her friend, Amy. All of these people and perhaps others could probably cash in on book deals. Remember Kato Kaelin? And what about Leonard Padilla, the bounty hunter? The possibilities are endless.

Casey Anthony in a Mansion?

CaseyAnthony in a Mansion?

The latest news is that Casey Anthony is presently hiding out in a 5.2 million dollar mansion complete with an infinity pool. This is sure to boost Casey’s unpopularity polls even higher. The thought of Casey Anthony living in luxury is sure to infuriate many people. It has even got some people saying that crime does pay. In reality, crime does not pay and Casey Anthony will have to pay a high price. Yes, the not guilty verdict saved her life. The question now is, what kind of life are we talking about. Presently Casey has to move from place to place like a hunted fugitive even if she gets to stay in some luxury mansion. As soon as her location is found out she will need to move again. When I started thinking about it, hiding Casey Anthony out in a mansion is not a bad idea. From a security perspective it makes sense. If Casey was a typical person she would be worried right now about her probation status. However, Casey has proven not to be a typical person. It is quite possible that Casey is not giving this matter much thought and is indeed enjoying herself at the mansion. The present situation will give people even more ammunition for wanting Casey to fill her probation order. The public would rather see her return to Orlando Florida and follow the rules and regulations of her probation order. The probation order would likely preclude her from living in luxury mansions.

Will the Anthony Family Recover?

How Does the Anthony Family Recover?

. Today I am wondering how the Anthony family is going to recover. There are many questions that need to be answered. Will Casey still be welcomed in their lives? Will George and Cindy's marriage survive? How will the recent trial and all the publicity affect Lee Anthony's upcoming marriage? The odds are certainly not in favor of the family surviving as a unit. There are hopeful signs however. George and Cindy are still together and that in itself is a miracle. George and Cindy have had to face the death of their grandchild, a very emotional court case, allegations of George's marital infidelity and all kinds of unwanted publicity. Lee Anthony has to deal with allegations of sexual abuse of his sister. These are but some of the problems the Anthony family is now facing. This family needs our prayers in this time of crisis.

Casey Anthony: Something Is Wrong Here

Casey Anthony: Something Is Wrong Here

I remember Dr. Lee’s famous statement from the O. J. Simpson trial. In reference to the forensic evidence Dr. Lee stated, “Something is wrong here.” In a different context I believe the same thing could be said about the Casey Anthony trial. Apparently, one or more highly rated psychotherapists evaluated Casey Anthony in order to determine if she has a diagnosable mental illness. Then we heard the shocking news that these therapists could not come up with any diagnosable psychiatric disorders where Casey Anthony was concerned.  How can this be? Even if Casey did not murder Caylee she had a very odd way of reacting to her daughter’s thirty day disappearance. How these doctors could not even diagnose Casey with a personality disorder is beyond me.

Casey Anthony and Michael Jackson

Casey Anthony and Michael Jackson

Lately I’ve written several blogs on the Casey Anthony trial. This started me thinking about Michael Jackson and his not guilty verdict. There are some similarities here. Both Michael Jackson and Casey Anthony were declared guilty by the media and the public before their trials in court. In fact, in both cases, the public and the media thought that getting a guilty verdict would be a slam dunk. Both Casey and Michael left court declared not guilty of any major crimes. A strong legal defense team played a huge role in the outcome of both trials. Both Michael Jackson and Casey Anthony were charged with egregious crimes against children. Circumstantial evidence and common sense appeared to indicate that both parties were guilty of their alleged crimes.

Forgiveness for Casey Anthony?

Forgiveness for Casey Anthony?

The world is nowhere near ready to let go of Casey Anthony. The public is determined to make her pay by one means or another. Many people would like to see Casey Anthony do probation. This is interesting as probation is designed to assist inmates in making a positive adjustment to life outside of prison. In other words probation is designed to benefit the inmate. I don't believe that there are too many people who want to see Casey Anthony do probation for her benefit. What they are hoping is that Casey Anthony will be assigned probation, will violate her probation orders and will be forced to return to jail. This is interesting as there are a large amount of people in Florida who do not care to have Casey Anthony returned to their state. This would once again cost the taxpayers a ton of money. Would a lengthy period of probation make Casey Anthony a better person? It's unlikely but who knows. She could find the Lord while incarcerated. If by some miracle Casey Anthony were to become rehabilitated, would the public forgive her? The answer is no.

Warren Jeffs

Warren Jeffs

You win some, you lose some. For all the people who are upset about the Casey Anthony verdict you can take some solace in the fact that the courts found Warren Jeffs guilty. Warren Jeffs is truly a monster and fortunately he really didn’t have any defense. Religious freedom does not trump the rape and torture of children.

The World Hates Casey Anthony

The World Hates Casey Anthony

The court of public opinion has rendered a verdict on Casey Anthony. That verdict is guilty. A large segment of the population does not accept the trial jury's verdict. They feel that they did not get justice in this case. This group thinks that justice was not done because they did not get the verdict they wanted. The media had already tried Casey Anthony and found her guilty before the trial even started. One must commend the jury for trying to be objective and to go on the facts presented in court alone. If I was on the jury in the Casey Anthony case, I would've come to the same conclusion that the jury did. There simply was not enough evidence presented to justify giving Casey Anthony the death sentence. There were just too many questions that were not answered in this trial. I still wonder about Lee Anthony and exactly what was his role in this whole incident. Something definitely does not appear to be right in the whole Anthony family. I don't know if we'll ever learn the truth about what really happened to Caylee Anthony.
The public is now hoping to get some form of justice by making Casey Anthony pay in some other way. The demand to enforce the probation order is a case in point. I fail to see what good could come out of making Casey Anthony serve her probation order. There are many people who would like to see Casey Anthony dead. All it takes of one of these individuals to try to kill Casey Anthony. If Casey is brought back to Orlando Florida her physical safety will be in jeopardy. If the court orders Casey to stay in Orlando Florida for the duration of her probation order, the odds of her being harmed are greatly increased. I feel that the best decision would be for the court to declare the case closed. It is time for people to move on.

Probation for Casey Anthony

Probation For Casey Anthony?

It appears that Casey Anthony may have to return to Orlando, Florida for her probation hearing. I cannot see any sense in this order. What good is it going to do to bring Casey back to Florida to serve out her probation sentence? If Casey is forced to live in Orlando, and abide by a probation order, is this going to make her a better person? This seems to be unlikely. What might be of more benefit to everyone involved, is to allow Casey to attend a mental health rehabilitation facility. It seems that there is a desire out there to continue to punish Casey Anthony. A majority of people do not seem to agree with the not guilty verdict. They think that the courts should find a way to punish Casey some other way. I don't think these people have anything to worry about. Casey Anthony's life will likely be rough enough. There also appears to be some politics involved in making this probation decision. There seems to be no love lost between Judge Strickland and the Casey Anthony defense team. Another concern is for Casey Anthony’s safety. All it would take is one at in the unbalanced person to take a shot at Casey Anthony. Meanwhile, the state of Florida will be responsible for funding Casey's protection.

Larry Flynt

Larry Flynt

Last night when I watched the Nancy Grace Show Larry Flynt was the featured guest. Although I’m not a fan of what Mr. Flynt does for a living I do have some respect for him. Larry is very straight forward and doesn’t apologize for what he is or what he does. He made a point of telling last night’s viewers that he is first and foremost a businessman and that a business man’s job is to make money. Larry does not apologize for potentially making a lot of money from Casey Anthony. As Larry tells it this is what his fans expect him to do. Larry even stated that early on he didn’t think that there would be much of a demand for marketing Casey Anthony. He now reports that his fans have told him otherwise. Larry Flynt is much more honest about his motives than most of the media. Most of the mass media is vindicating people like Jose Baez for trying to make some money in the aftermath of the Casey Anthony Trial. What they are not telling the public is that they are covering the Casey Anthony story to get high viewer ratings. Higher viewer ratings keep their shows on the air and pay for their salaries.

Casey Anthony Update

Casey Anthony Updates

I find it rather interesting that so many people are upset over the possibility of Casey Anthony making a lot of money. There are also many people and organizations who are suing Casey and want money from her. The question is, how do they expect Ms Anthony to pay them? She is presently unemployable in any traditional job. Yet people are irate that she might make enormous sums of money by either granting interviews or posing for pictures in magazines. How do they expect her to pay her debtors back and support herself in the foreseeable future?

Why Casey Anthony Got a Not Guilty Verdict

Why Casey Anthony Got a Not Guilty Verdict

1)      Jose Baez and his team had an effective strategy no matter what people thought at the time. Mr. Baez’s opening statement was considered to be a poor trial strategy. The public was wondering how Jose Baez would be able to prove his allegations against George and Lee Anthony. As it turned out Baez didn’t need to prove it. He just had to plant the idea in the jury’s heads. The job of the defense is to create reasonable doubt.

2)      George Anthony did not make a credible witness. On the witness stand George was testy and evasive. I think more people believed that he had an affair with River Cruz than didn’t.

3)      There wasn’t enough evidence that Casey Anthony was a “bad mother” before the disappearance of Caylee. There was no evidence that Casey had either inflicted physical or emotional abuse towards her daughter. On the contrary there were several witnesses who testified that Casey acted in a very loving manner towards little Caylee. It would be asking a lot of the jury to ask them to wrap their heads around the idea that a loving mother could suddenly decide that she needed to murder her little girl.

The Lawyers for George and Cindy Anthony

The lawyers for George and Cindy Anthony should not be allowed to talk to the press period. Their present lawyer should never have told a reporter that George and Cindy did not think their daughter was innocent. This little tidbit of information could have waited until the trial was over.

I don't know why Jose Baez is taking all this heat for his courtroom performance. He is trying to save his client's life. If he has to use some theatrics and bend the rules a bit all the more power to him. I'm also looking forward to the show down between the medical examiner and the crusty old forensic psychiatrist.

The Casey Anthony Trial

I have been following the Casey Anthony Trial since the beginning three years ago. I will post some of my observations on this case and on the trial itself.
1) The whole story doesn't make any sense. I defy anyone to make a totally rational conclusion about the characters in the story.
2) The characters in this story rival some of the great characters of fiction. Even the sub plot characters such as Leonard the bounty hunter and Roy Kronk are interesting. Casey herself is already one of the greatest female villains in history. Right now she probably rivals Aileen Wournos in notoriety. Watching this trial never fails to leave me with unanswered questions such as:
1) Why does everyone seem to think that George, Cindy and Lee Anthony didn't have substantial involvement in the cover up of this tragedy?
2) Why does George Anthony quickly bend his head down when one of the lawyers asks George a hard question?
3) Why do people believe the criminal who was apparently called by George on the phone? This guy contends that he doesn't even know George Anthony. Is it possible for a former law enforcement officer to have friends in low places?
4) Why is there so little interest in finding out who the real biological father of Caylee is? Lee Anthony probably knows but he's not talking. Why?
If a novelist was writing this story he or she would be expected to tie up the loose ends. At this point I doubt if even the major issues will be clarified by the end of this trial.
